Loud and Clear

The other day I was out mowing the yard, and my two sons were playing in the yard as they typically do.  I was listening to my favorite mowing playlist with my wireless Bluetooth noise reducing headphones.  I like listening to my Amazon playlist through my phone while I mow the yard.  It gives me some time to reflect on some awesome songs that magnify God.  My son Jacob noticed this and wanted to see what it would be like to wear his daddy’s headphones and listen to the tunes.  I put on my headphones on my son. He got the biggest grin on his face and walked/danced away with joy and happiness.

A few minutes go by, and I hear Jacob say something from across the yard.  “Dad…something is wrong with these headphones!  They are getting glitchy.”  I figured out quickly that there was nothing wrong with the headphones at all, the problem was that my son got too far away from the source of the playlist, and the music began to cut out.

I gave my son a good gift from me.  He took it in fully in joy, but then started to drift away.  I did not move during this time, but he moved farther away from me.

Isn’t this how we do God the Father sometimes.  He blesses us with His gifts when we ask of Him, but then things tend to get “glitchy “when we start to walk away.  We get further from the source, and we have more trouble hearing the heart of the father.  We still have everything that God has gifted us with, but we cannot use God’s gifts to their full potential when we get too far away from the source of the gift.

After I explained to Jacob that he had to stay close to hear the music he stuck with me the rest of the way, and he even “helped” me push mow the rest of the front yard…LOL.  If we stick right beside God, we will also be able to always hear his voice loud and clear.

Anyone who belongs to God listens gladly to the words of God. - John 8:47
