United We Stand on What?

What are WE really UNITED in and what are WE STANDING on?

To be united as a people means that we must share some common morals, ideals, standards, ways of thinking...etc.  I believe this is where we have hit a snag in the road as a nation. 

To truly be united we as a nation must have an agreed upon standard of morals, ideas, and standards.

If two people disagree over what is right or wrong, they do not stand united, but stand very divided on that issue. We as a nation will never be united if man’s opinion determines which morals and ideas to live by as the correct truth.

As a country, we need to look to a higher being for our moral standards, and we must agree upon and obey the same set of standards to truly be united.

In short, we need to look for our truth in THE TRUTH.  The truth is the Word of God.  As a nation we need to get back to living “UNDER GOD” and “STANDING UNITED” on His Word. 

Let us look to God’s moral law on a standard we can agree with.

The 10 Commandments.

1.You shall have no other gods before me.

2.You shall not make idols.

3.You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.

4.Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy.

5.Honor your father and your mother.

6.You shall not murder.

7.You shall not commit adultery.

8.You shall not steal.

9.You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

10.You shall not covet.

If we as a people cannot stand together on the Word of God, we will never be truly united but will see more division.

What is the meaning of “One nation Under God”?

It means that this nation needs to live under God’s authority and live according to God’s commandments.  It means that He is the master, and we are under Him.  It means that we should look at God’s standards, and not what feels right to us.

 

As for God, His way is perfect; the Word of the Lord is proven, He is a shield to all who trust in Him.  – Psalm 18:30

Let us be United in His Way.

Hovering over the Waters--Genesis 1:2

 The other day I was speaking to the girls about baptism and what makes it such an important event in the life of a believer.  As I was thinking of baptism and stories about water, I felt God directing my thoughts to a scripture in the beginning of the Bible that I never linked to baptism before.  Bear with me, this may be a bit of a stretch, but I believe God likes to stretch our thoughts and reveal new things to us using his word. Steal, Kill and Destroy vs. Give, Live, and Create

  The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have  it  more abundantly. - John 10:10 John 10:10 gives us a very clear idea of the agenda of the Kingdom of God vs. the Kingdom of the enemy.  We can assume from reading about the agenda of the thief ( enemy ) that the agenda of God would be directly opposite.  Lets take each action and compare the agenda of both.
