Putting God in Our Amazon BOX

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.  Ephesians 3:20

I believe that sometimes we make the mistake as Christians thinking that God has to show up or feel a certain way so we can stay comfortable.  In essence, we like to have our "God box".  This is the place where we put God and let him stay there.  This is where we feel very comfortable with God, and even feel safe about what God should feel like, look like, or act like.

We typically base our God box off past experiences with church, or past experiences in our life.  We then take that box and we become cynical for anything new that God is trying to do in our life, or any new movement of God.

Last week I attended a service at the Roads church, and one of the main concepts of the ministry of the service was focused on a spiritual, physical, mental deliverance of the believer.  The deliverance method was getting baptized for the first time, or a subsequent time.  I have never in my life seen a ministry just like this one.  Was it genuine?  All I can say is I was watching people live and on video get set free from mental, spiritual, and physical oppression.  I was very touched by this new movement of God that I had witnessed first hand.

When I arrived home that night, I was speaking to one of my daughters and told her what the service was like.  She came out and was skeptical when I was describing the method and the ministry that I had witnessed.

This got me thinking, " I wonder if people were skeptical of Jesus when he was performing his miracles on earth ".  I wonder what people thought when he spit in the mud and told the blind man to wash it off so he may see.  ( John 9 ) Why did Jesus have to do that?  Couldn't he just said to the blind man "See, blind man!"  I think he did this to show us that sometimes to get the deliverance/result that we are seeking, it means getting up out of our comfort zone "God box", and doing something out of the ordinary to experience the extraordinary.

While it is true the character of God always stays the same, the method he chooses to reveal and work his power is always changing.  We need to be flexible enough not to count a movement of God out, but to test the waters to see if it really is a move of God.  If it is a move of God we need to embrace it.

You may be asking yourself why an Amazon box.  If you notice the Amazon logo, it points to the fact that Amazon sells everything from A -> Z.  We like defined borders on our alphabet, our beliefs, what church should look like..etc.   However, the God of the Bible uses a different alphabet.  He is the Alpha and Omega ( beginning and the end ). Nothing is impossible for him, and he wants to work his mighty power not only in us, but through us.

Today, I hope you are open-minded to the movement that God wants to make in your life and what he wants to accomplish through you.  You have the Holy Spirit living in you, it is time to show God's love and power to those around you.  God Bless!
