Jesus and Pilate - Another proof for the resurrection?

Image
Jesus and Pilate – Another Evidence for the Resurrection of Jesus? I was recently reading the fascinating exchange between Jesus and Pilate in John 18:33–38. This is the moment when Pilate asks one of the most profound questions of all time: “What is truth?” Although I’ve read this passage many times before, something new struck me this time—a question I had never considered. We know that the Gospel of John was written by the apostle John. But how did John know what was said in this private conversation between Jesus and Pilate inside the Praetorium? The disciples and the Jewish leaders weren’t present there—this was the Roman governor’s headquarters. That would mean the only people present were Pilate, Jesus, and perhaps a few Roman officials or guards. Given that, how could John have recorded this dialogue so precisely? It seems unlikely that he would have had access to anyone in Pilate’s court who was willing to relay the details—especially after Pilate had condemned Jesus to ...

1 Cross + 3 Nails = 4 Given

When you factor in God's love for you, it all adds up! "Jesus humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross " --Phillippians 2:8 "Having wiped out the handwriting of requirments that was agianst us ... He has taken it ouf the way, having nailed it to the cross." --Colossians 2:14 "In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace." -- Ephesians 1:7 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." --John 3:16 Today is the day of your salvation, just choose Jesus.  Repent of your sins and trust in His work on the cross.  We broke God's law, and Jesus paid our fine in full so we would not have to pay it ourselves.  Jesus gave it all for us, so now give your life back to Him.  Follow Him all the days of your life here on Earth, and you will get to celebr...

Loud and Clear

The other day I was out mowing the yard, and my two sons were playing in the yard as they typically do.   I was listening to my favorite mowing playlist with my wireless Bluetooth noise reducing headphones.   I like listening to my Amazon playlist through my phone while I mow the yard.   It gives me some time to reflect on some awesome songs that magnify God.   My son Jacob noticed this and wanted to see what it would be like to wear his daddy’s headphones and listen to the tunes.   I put on my headphones on my son. He got the biggest grin on his face and walked/danced away with joy and happiness.   A few minutes go by, and I hear Jacob say something from across the yard.   “Dad…something is wrong with these headphones!   They are getting glitchy.”   I figured out quickly that there was nothing wrong with the headphones at all, the problem was that my son got too far away from the source of the playlist, and the music began to cut ou...

Hovering over the Waters--Genesis 1:2

Image
The other day I was speaking to the girls about baptism and what makes it such an important event in the life of a believer.  As I was thinking of baptism and stories about water, I felt God directing my thoughts to a scripture in the beginning of the Bible that I never linked to baptism before.  Bear with me, this may be a bit of a stretch, but I believe God likes to stretch our thoughts and reveal new things to us using his word. Genesis 1:2 The earth was  without form, and void; and darkness  was  on the face of the deep.  And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. We are going way back to the beginning on this one.  The earth started out being without a form and void, and darkness was on the face of the deep.  However, the Spirit of God was still present hovering over the waters.  As I was thinking about this passage, it was revealed to me that just like the Earth was without form ( purpose ) and void ( empty ),...

Steal, Kill and Destroy vs. Give, Live, and Create

Image
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have  it  more abundantly. - John 10:10 John 10:10 gives us a very clear idea of the agenda of the Kingdom of God vs. the Kingdom of the enemy.  We can assume from reading about the agenda of the thief ( enemy ) that the agenda of God would be directly opposite.  Lets take each action and compare the agenda of both. Thief's Agenda Steal Kill Destroy God's Agenda Give Live (or give life) Create We have to realize that there is a measure of good and evil in the world, and that God's judgement is the measurement by which everyone will be judged.  Now lets look at some real world issues and see how God's word and agenda line up with current social issues. Steal vs Give- The enemy is out to steal from you and your family.  If you there is anything good that you possess, the enemy is out to steal it out from under you.  Joy, pe...

Putting God in Our Amazon BOX

Image
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.  Ephesians 3:20 I believe that sometimes we make the mistake as Christians thinking that God has to show up or feel a certain way so we can stay comfortable.  In essence, we like to have our "God box".  This is the place where we put God and let him stay there.  This is where we feel very comfortable with God, and even feel safe about what God should feel like, look like, or act like.   We typically base our God box off past experiences with church, or past experiences in our life.  We then take that box and we become cynical for anything new that God is trying to do in our life, or any new movement of God.  Last week I attended a service at the Roads church, and one of the main concepts of the ministry of the service was focused on a spiritual, physical, mental deliverance of the believer.  The deliver...

United We Stand on What?

Image
As this nation is now so currently divided, I have seen the common phrase in the news and speeches of "United We Stand".   As this nation is now so currently divided, I have seen the common phrase in the news and speeches of "United We Stand".  This phrase gave me the thought… What are WE really UNITED in and what are WE STANDING on? To be united as a people means that we must share some common morals, ideals, standards, ways of thinking...etc.  I believe this is where we have hit a snag in the road as a nation.  To truly be united we as a nation must have an agreed upon standard of morals, ideas, and standards. If two people disagree over what is right or wrong, they do not stand united, but stand very divided on that issue. We as a nation will never be united if man’s opinion determines which morals and ideas to live by as the correct truth. As a country, we need to look to a higher being for our moral standards, and we must agree upon and obey the...
